The game is actually titled Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 2, but the Yanchamaru series was called "Kid Niki" in the US, so I went with that instead.
The bulk of the work for this project was all the graphics that needed to be translated. There really wasn't much dialogue.
This is an update to the old translation I released in 1998. I wanted to make the patch available again, but I also wanted to deliver something a bit better than last time.
I added a lower case font to the game (using the Master of Orion font again) and spent some time play testing the whole game to ensure nothing else was broken.
I did not change the title screen because it would involve hacking several hard-coded palettes, which was simply not worth the time.
So six years later, here is the final, 100 percent complete version of the game.
Set after rescuing the princess in Kid Niki: Radical Ninja, a new amusement park called "Karakuri Land" has opened in Edo. The princess asks Kid Niki to take her to the amusement park, but he blows her off since he's busy training.
The princess and all the other visitors to the park disappear, and Kid Niki sets out to rescue everyone once again.
This Kid Niki 2 translation is distributed in "beat" format.
The patch file kidniki2-1.2.bps is intended for use on a ROM with the checksum 459c9e31.
The resulting patched game will work in any Famicom or Nintendo emulator.
