A few people may be wondering why I'm releasing this since BUSTER, the game's author, has endorsed Do-jin Nyuu's patch as the game's official translation.
This isn't a re-translation, it's a re-release. I first released my translation of Akuji the Demon in January 2003 but pulled it from distribution.
After Do-jin Nyuu's patch came out, Home of the Underdogs (HOTU) started packing its Akuji download with the Do-jin Nyuu patch instead of mine. This didn't bug me, as I'm not in competition.
However, HOTU was the last place to find my Akuji patch. I only ended up recovering it thanks to Spinner 8, who e-mailed me a zip file with my previous translation.
This Akuji the Demon translation is distributed in "beat" format.
Beat is a delta patching format that allows you to create a patch between two folders. It's the perfect choice for patching Windows software.
You can play the translation by executing akuji.exe in the newly created directory.
This patch bundles in d3drm.dll, which is needed to make the game function on Windows Vista, 7 and 8.
Graphics in this game were edited using qdatools, my open source toolkit that extracts and re-packs the QDA resource format BUSTER uses to store graphics.
